Living in Florence: Black & White

blackandwhite

I was sorting through some of our recent photos and happened to notice a lot of black and white. Whether we're wandering the streets or in museums, it seems we can't help but see these colors.

On a similar note, fashion week is in full effect in NYC (I'm obsessed) and I've spotted two serious color trends: neon and black/white. It seems like there is nothing in between for Spring 2012! My favorite black/white looks are from two Italian designers, Chado Ralph Rucci...

One day I hope to be filthy rich so that I, too, can own one of these amazing dresses. Until then, I will dream. I will also dream about a day when Vera Wang doesn't send models down the runway that look like they just escaped from a meth lab.

spotted on the street in florence, italy: fantastic chairs

There is an awesome home interiors store we walk by nearly every day on via Maggio. The display is always so bright and fun. I think I could live there.

florence, italy: window shopping on via dei fossi

I have no words for these chairs in Flair, a home interiors store at the intersection of via dei fossi and Piazza Carlo Goldini. No words.

visiting florence, italy: paper stores

Paper stores are everywhere in Florence. Even in the touristy areas you can find small shops full of handmade paper goods. Here are a few shots from one we visited recently to buy a belated wedding gift for our good friends.

wednesday window shopping: ferragamo

Italy expat blog

New blog series alert! OK, so I'm totally obsessed with window shopping. Here in Italy window displays are nothing short of mini art installations and I'm constantly stopping dead in my tracks on the streets to ohhh and ahhh at them.

The window above is from the Salvatore Ferragama store right near Ponte Santa Trinita. The displays at this store are always a-m-a-z-i-n-g. To bad the stuff in the window cost about 8 bagillion dollars.
