Living in Florence: What's Right Outside Our Door

I love this picture that my mom took of me walking down the stairs at Boboli Gardens. I see this photo and I'm reminded of (1) how small we all are in the world and (2) just how amazing the city that Rob and I call home really is!

Kate and Rob in Florence: Then and Now

Now-2011

Then-2005

We took my parents to Boboli Gardens today and decided to recreate a photo we had snapped six years ago when Rob visited me while I was studying abroad. I think it's safe to say that we've both gotten better (and skinnier! Holy cow!) with age.

living in florence: green space

Just some pretty photos we've taken recently. The weather has been so amazing the past week that we try to take as many afternoon walks and breaks as possible.

living in florence: an afternoon break

If you're planning to spend an extended period of time in Florence I highly suggested picking up an Amici Degli Uffizi card. Our family version of the card cost 100 euro, lasts all year, and gives us "free" entrance into 15 museums in the city. The best part? The card also allows us to skip the line at the Uffizi -- which saves hours during some times of the year.

We use our cards all of the time. On Thursday we popped into Boboli Gardens for about an hour. We brought a blanket and just relaxed in one of our favorite, quiet parts of the garden. On our way out we checked out the set up for the outdoor Opera Festival. We've heard all of the performances from our apartment and it was neat to finally see how they have the stage set up.

grilling with a terracotta pot: not really possible

Just an FYI that you can't really grill with a terracotta pot like Kitchn says you can. I do think the explosion was good entertainment though, I must admit.
